I am originally from Ireland . I emigrated to the US in 1992. I spent the first 4 years in the US as a musician . I started working in construction in 1996 , as a painter for a small residential painting company in Boston . In 2003 , I considered it time to work for myself . I considered myself ready , I had collected a broad range of skills for residential finishing and I wanted more control, responsibility and autonomy . I understood that my ability to communicate with customers at this point was a little raw but I was confident I could develop that with experience. I continuously appreciate having a background in painting and finishing because it enables me to visualize the end product before I begin and the steps required at each stage to attain the desired result . I started to broaden my range of services in mid 2003 to include Carpentry and general work like gutter install , roofing repairs and new window install . In the fall of 2003, I enrolled in a program at the North Bennet School in Boston called the “ Fundamentals of fine woodworking “ . It was a short program but it influenced me a lot . It thought me the importance of process and basics, each function requiring the same level of application and effort . I completed my first extensive interior project in the summer and fall of 2006, in Winchester Ma. A customer purchased a new home . Initially the job was an entire interior repaint but the scope developed to include new ceilings , new windows , some new casings and the encapsulation and interior refinishing of an exterior porch . This was my first experience working extensively with a customer to develop a project based on their vision and preferences and an effective dynamic was created . Now , our project portfolio includes Kitchens , bathrooms, basement renovations, build - outs and new construction custom millwork . We are a flexible company and we work directly with customers , with customers and their design professionals or we can recommend design professionals. Our ultimate objective is a satisfied customer .
